How did Lucid Laces get here? Learn more about our story.
Founded in 2022, Lucid Laces was born from a deep love of roller skating and a desire for laces that could keep up—in style and in strength. Frustrated by generic options, we set out to create something better: handcrafted, high-quality roller skate laces made with premium paracord and a whole lot of heart.
As skaters, gear matters. Every pair is assembled by hand in Chicago, with attention to detail that reflects our commitment to both performance and personal expression.
Be seen in the dark. By skaters, for skaters.

Lucid Laces is rooted in skate culture and built on community care. Through movement, creativity, and honest conversation, we aim to support mental health, advocacy, self-expression, and connection — because skating is about more than what you wear, it’s about how you show up for yourself and others.

Angelique
Hi! I’m Angelique—cybersecurity project manager by day and owner of Lucid Laces. I grew up roller skating in Chicago, IL, with Fleetwood Roller Rink as my home rink. I’ve been skating freestyle and JB since 2019 where skating quickly became my moving meditation and creative outlet.

What started as a personal journey evolved into something bigger. I’m proud to be part of Chicago’s rich skate culture and to use Lucid Laces as a way to give back and build community. We’ve raised over $2,500 through our After the Storm campaign with Hope for the Day supporting mental health education and suicide prevention.

We've also had the honor of fundraising for LMJ Lost Souls – Alzheimer’s Fund by sponsoring their Skate4aCause event and appeared on their podcast to share our story in the hopes of helping someone else feel seen and supported.

Drella
Hi! I’m Drella, and I joined Lucid Laces in September 2022 as Social Media Manager.
My skate journey began in 2020 at skate parks during the early days of the pandemic. The thrill of ramps and the welcoming community made skating a permanent part of my life. In fall 2021, I discovered JB rink skating, fell in love with the culture, and took on the challenge of skating every day for a year—a commitment that deeply connected me with the skate world and helped me grow as a skater.
I’m passionate about spreading the joy skating has brought me and helping others feel that same love. I’m proud to work alongside Angelique and be part of the Lucid Laces mission to uplift and inspire the skate community.
